The Women’s Voice and Leadership – Pakistan (WVL-P) project is an initiative aimed at amplifying the role of women in leadership and decision-making processes within Pakistan. Through this project, Oxfam, in partnership with Global Affairs Canada, works to promote the professional development and personal growth of leaders from women’s rights organizations (WROs) in Pakistan. The Gender Leadership Program (GLP), a cornerstone of the WVL-P project, promotes the personal growth and empowerment of women leaders from WROs as an instrumental step in enabling gender-transformative changes in society.

Testimonies from the participants showed that the GLP’s ultimate success hinges on its investments in women leaders’ individual empowerment.  GLP Participants take part in three one-week modules that focus on self-exploration and encourage women to overcome internalized, negative beliefs about their place in Pakistan’s society. Empowering women to create change within themselves creates ripple effects in their organizations and communities to advance gender equality.

Watch the video and read the case study – with testimonials from participants - to learn more about the program.

“The best thing about the GLP was that it started with the self and ended with the self too. I realized that I exist, my self is valued”. – Nighat, GLP Participant.
