Feministing Foreign Policy, A Global Conversation.

Feministing Foreign Policy. Septemnber 15, 2015 at 6 PM at the Library and Archives Canada.

A global conversation with Nobel Peace Laureates and Canadian thought leaders took place in advance of the federal election in 2015 with keynote speakers Tawakkol Karman, Shirin Ebadi, Mairead Maguire and Jody Williams, along with Joanna Kerr and Monia Mazigh at Library and Archives Canada.

This global conversation helped put women's rights and gender equality front and centre in the 2015 federal election.

Issues discussed ranged from Gender Equality, Violence Against Women and Girls, Economic Equality, Leadership, to Foreign Policy and Health.

The Up for Debate campaign called on all political parties to commit to a federal leaders’ debate on issues identified by women – the first in 30 years. When leaders wouldn’t come to the table, Up For Debate went to Plan B and pushed for one on one exclusive interviews with each leader on the issues – and thanks to you and all the others who spoke up - we made that  happen.
It was a huge victory to get leaders to sit down at the table.
