Nicaragua: Changing attitudes, building respect
Puntos (Fundación Puntos de Encuentro) is a Nicaraguan NGO, founded in 1991. As a multicultural and multi-disciplinary collective of men and women, their primary objective is to promote a favourable environment so that women and young people can exercise their rights, particularly with regard to sexual and reproductive health. Issues dealt with include immigration, HIV/AIDS, rape, domestic violence, racism and drug use.
Puntos' magazine, La Boletina, has been an important tool for building respect for women, questioning power relations and keeping women's rights on the public agenda in Nicaragua. Total readership is now over 150,000.
