Oxfam Briefing: Maternal Health

Oxfam Briefing: Maternal Health

June 25, 2010

Five years ago, G8 leaders promised to increase aid by $50 billion by 2010. They have come up $20 billion short. And to gloss over the gap, G8 leaders are keeping any mention of their promises out of this year’s communiqué.

Is the maternal mortality announcement a good step forward or just a distraction from their broken promises?

Please join us to discuss the latest intelligence by the “fake lake” this morning at 9:45.
And as we are expecting an announcement on a new maternal health initiative today, please note that Dorothy Ngoma, Executive Director of the National Organization of Nurses and Midwives of Malawi, will be available for comments. She has 32 years of experience working as a nurse, training nurses and advocating on behalf of nurses in Malawi.
