Geneviève Grossenbacher , L’Ange-Gardien, Quebec

Geneviève Grossenbacher is a female food hero because she has always worked towards building more sustainable food systems, at different levels of the food chain. She started her food journey as a vegan baker for a local organic café, then ran two collective gardens, before coordinating Soup’s On!, an innovative project aimed at introducing local organic foods in schools and hospitals across Quebec. Over the years, Genevieve co-wrote two educational kits and a story book in order to help 3-17 years old make more responsible food choices. Genevieve now works at USC Canada, where she helps inform and mobilize the public about important food issues, and sits on the board of Canadian Organic Growers. Genevieve also runs a small-scale organic vegetable farm in Quebec near Ottawa. Check out her farm:
