Take Action - Land Grabs and Sugar
Companies like Coca-Cola, PepsiCo and Associated British Foods (ABF) buy and produce huge amounts of sugar around the world. And as demand for sugar increases, so does the rush for land to grow it on.
This October, you told three of the biggest companies in the sugar industry to make sure their sugar doesn’t lead to land grabs. And it’s working. When more than 200,000 of you put your names behind the campaign, Coca-Cola announced it will be the first of the "Big 3" to agree to do more to respect communities’ land rights throughout their supply chain. These moves are happening because of the pressure you applied.
Coke, the world’s largest sugar buyer, has taken action – Pepsi and Associated British Foods have no excuses to keep lagging behind. And with Pepsi’s shareholder filing deadline is coming up, now’s the moment to start increasing the pressure on them specifically.
It’s now or never. We need you to tell Pepsi to keep up with Coca-Cola and commit to zero tolerance for land grabs.
