I am a student at Saint Mary’s University. I am currently pursuing a dual degree; Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. I am originally from Kenya, and one of the many things Kenya is known for is its vibrant culture and diversity.

I have always developed an interest in social issues like poverty, women’s issues. Given that Oxfam’s mission is to eliminate global poverty and fight social injustice, I found the organization to be a perfect fit.

I am currently the President of the Oxfam Campus Club at Saint Mary’s University, whichstarted in September 2008. A rewarding experience has been seeing students/members interested in Oxfam Canada and what Oxfam stands for. It is fulfilling when students share the same vision and decide to come together in order to take action and influence change.

My learning experience is still and ongoing process. However, through my involvement with the Oxfam group at SMU, I have learnt that even with a small campus group, change is possible.
