Cuba: empowering people through popular education

In Cuba, Oxfam partner, the Martin Luther King Memorial Centre (MLKC) continues to create space for dialogue and social change through its popular education programs. The Havana-based MLKC has been successful in recruiting dynamic community leaders as volunteers to participate in designing distanceeducation programs. These programs have been particularly effective in engaging newly-trained, young social workers who want to expand their effectiveness and reach through popular education skills. In turn, these youth are bringing new voices to programs and projects in their local communities.
