I am going into my final year at the University of Western Ontario and am completing an Honours Specialization in the Media, Information and Technoculture program. I have always had a passion for global issues and wanted to get a first-hand experience of what organizations really do to make a difference.

My most rewarding experience as an Oxfam member has been engaging the public in the Stop Harming, Start Helping campaign. In my summer internship in the Ottawa officeI helped organize tabling events at local summer festivals. So many Canadians are unaware of the global injustices that are occurring around the world and it is extremely rewarding to know that your interaction with them has helped to bring awareness.

This internship has truly allowed me to experience the real culture of an NGO and I know now what the work place is like in an organization such as Oxfam. I have met many different people with all sorts of different backgrounds which has opened me up to many new ideas in the future. I have also gained more direction in my educational career which will most definitely be beneficial to me when I graduate.
