Title: Information Technology Assistant

Location: Ottawa, ON

Status: 21 hours/week, minimum 3 months

Purpose

Reporting to the IT Systems Administrator, this internship will support the operation of Oxfam Canada’s information systems and enterprise resource planning systems (ERP).

Responsibilities:

Oxfam is looking for a resourceful, hard-working and innovative individual who recognizes the critical supporting role of information systems in enabling our staff to realize our organizational mission. In particular, the incumbent will:

  • Provide helpdesk technical support, help and guidance to local users;
  • Maintain and administer Windows Server 2003;
  • Create and maintain user accounts and group policies in Active Directory;
  • Setup laptop/desktop computers and install necessary software;
  • Monitor backups, firewalls, antivirus and other security systems;
  • Promote best practice through system policies and documentation;
  • Troubleshoot local and remote user issues;
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Fluency in English and excellent written communication skills, fluency in French an asset;
  • Strong communication and organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated experience providing IT support to users;
  • Strong research, cataloguing/organizational skills;
  • Ability to work independently, as well as effectively in a team setting;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills;
  • Demonstrated interest in international development, social justice and eradication of poverty.

 

Time Commitment: 3 month posting for a minimum of 21 hrs/week (flexible scheduling)
