Toronto musician `heals with his Music

Combining his passion for music and helping those in need, Ricker created Music Heals. Music Heals is Ricker's own concert series with a charitable intention. Offering an experimental mixture of classical music, jazz, musical theatre and more, Music Heals aims to inspire people to contribute to society regardless of country or border. `The means is through bringing affordable artistic experiences to local communities, while providing performance opportunities to local artistic talents, according to Ricker.

With the help of friends and family, he's able to put on these concerts at local spaces in the Greater Toronto Area. Explains Ricker, `my friends and family always are supportive of my concert... but now I hope to expand my audience and have a few individuals who share similar views and passions with me and can commit their time and energy - to actually build Music Heals together.

His concert on October 18th, 2008 marks the 2nd time he has put on a concert with proceeds going to Oxfam's efforts. When asked if this was something he could see himself doing again in the future, he replied `I can't see myself NOT doing this in the future. I hope to hear other ideas from others as to what I can do with music to contribute to society. He continues, `if I have a few individuals who share the same passion as I do and can be committed with me, I hope I can do more frequent concerts annually.

When asked what he hoped people would take away from his performance, Ricker replied `share my love of music and arts, and be inspired to do their own charity work through music or some other means. We're already feeling inspired here at Oxfam!
