Oxfam Canada’s 1st Annual Fast
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations celebrates World Food Day each year on 16 October, the day on which the Organization was founded in 1945.
Oxfam Canada is launching our 1st Annual National Fast to mark World Food Day. Oxfam considers fasting a symbolic act. It is a valuable reminder that we live in a world where food and resources are not distributed equally. Fasting has been used as a powerful tool to protest political injustice and can be an effective agent of social change.
The Fast will take place Monday, October 13 beginning at 8:00 pm and will finish on Tuesday, October 14 at 8:00 pm. This will allow you to participate in any of our World Food Day events that may be happening in your community or campus later that week.
