Oxfam BC-Yukon 2008 Regional Assembly

Particpate in Oxfam's 2008 British Columbia/Yukon Regional Assembly on Saturday, November 22nd and Sunday November 23rd at the YWCA at 733 Beatty Street in Vancouver.

This year's Assembly will be an inspiring reflection on the work that Oxfam has been involved with locally, nationally, and overseas this past year. During the course of the weekend, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn more about Oxfam BC/Yukon's two major campaigns for 2008/2009 (We Can, a coalition campaign to end violence against women, and our Public Services - For All - Fight Poverty campaign) and how you can become involved with these campaigns;
  • Meet two of our international program partnersand learn about the latest news about Oxfam's work nationally and overseas;
  • Participate in interactive sessions led by Oxfam working group and campus group leaders;
  • Dialogue with Oxfam Canada's Executive Director Robert Fox and the BC members of Oxfam Canada's Board of Directors and;
  • Participate in the elections for the 2008-2009 Regional Steering Committee.
  • Meet other members of Oxfam in the region

The Regional Assembly will also be a great opportunity to connect with the inspiring local working groups and individuals involved with Oxfam BC/Yukon, as well as become engaged with the governance structure and policy development of Oxfam.

Limited travel subsidies are available to enable members from outside of the Lower Mainland to participate. Childcare subsidies are also available. If you require such a subsidy, or any other assistance, please indicate it on your registration form.

The Assembly is open to all members of Oxfam Canada and new members are welcome to register at the Assembly or in advance.

While there is no cost for members to attend the Assembly, we welcome donations to Oxfam Canada, which you can contribute at the Assembly or in advance.
