Become a Member
A Powerful Community for Change
Oxfam Canada includes a diverse community of thousands of members across the country who actively support Oxfam’s vision and mission. We invite all supporters who live in Canada to register as members and join in our work to build lasting solutions to global poverty and injustice.
You can express your support as a member of Oxfam Canada in different ways. For many, membership means making a statement, speaking out, taking action and making change within a like-minded community. Many members contribute to Oxfam’s work financially, such as donating in our monthly giving program, Share-plan, or helping with fundraising activities.
Oxfam members often get more involved by taking action in our campaigns or volunteering in fundraising and educational activities. Oxfam members play an important role in spreading the word about Oxfam in the communities they are part of, helping to build support for our programs.
Members may also choose to participate in the governance of Oxfam Canada, such as by contributing advice and making policy recommendations to the Board of Directors, or nominating, standing for and electing positions in our National Board and Regional Steering Committees.
Join the Global Movement
However you chose to get involved with Oxfam as a member, you are standing in solidarity with Oxfam’s international program partners and people in the communities we are supporting together. You will be joining hands with millions of Oxfam campaigners, donors and volunteers around the world who are working to build lasting solutions to global poverty and injustice, promoting women’s rights and increasing gender equality.
Make Your Voice Heard
As a member you can have a real voice in how Oxfam Canada is run through taking part in elections of the Board of Directors and Regional Steering Committees. You will also be invited to participate in Oxfam’s annual Regional Assemblies and tri-annual National Assembly.
Members receive the latest updates on Oxfam campaigns, international programs and local volunteer activities. You can join our e-community to receive urgent action e-alerts and other notices about opportunities to get involved in a campaign or at a local level in community events.
Open to All
Oxfam supporters who wish to make financial contributions to Oxfam and volunteers who help carry out Oxfam's work are not automatically made members, but are encouraged to extend their support of Oxfam by choosing to register as members. There is no membership fee, but we invite you to make a donation if you are able. Once you register, there is no renewal of membership required and you can easily change your membership or communication preferences at any time.
