What Can You Do?

1. Sign the ‘Public services For All fight poverty’ petition.

Your signature will help Oxfam put pressure on rich countries, including Canada, to honour their promises.

Look out for Oxfam to actively campaign at the G8, the World Bank, and at the United Nations.  World leaders have promised to deliver on the Millennium Development Goals, we must hold them to account.

2. Contact your Member of Parliament.
Let your Member of Parliament know it’s time Canada honoured its commitments by raising aid to 0.7% of national income.

More and better quality aid will go a long way in delivering health care, education, water and sanitation for all.  What better way to fight poverty but through support for more teachers, more doctors with improved working conditions and salaries.

3. Plan an event.
We need your ideas to help us get the message out about taps, toilets, clinics and classrooms.

Organize a Hungry 4 Change, or a Music 4 Change. Help us raise awareness in your school, campus, office, factory, on the street, in the theater, and get your friends to sign the petition.

4. Become an Oxfam Canada member.
Sign up for e-updates from Oxfam and find out more about our work and how you can get more involved in our public services campaign.

You can also volunteer your time supporting our regional staff or joining a local or Oxfam campus based group.

5.Support Oxfam as a donor.

Join Shareplan, Oxfam’s convenient monthly giving program. Oxfam Canada supports long-term development, advocacy and emergency programs in 28 countries around the world. Support our partners as they fight for access to health, education, water and sanitation.
