Be part of the generation that ends poverty.

In 2000, the UN made history, when 189 countries gathered at the Millennium Development Goal summit in New York and agreed that they would halve extreme poverty by 2015.

The result; in countries where the eight MDGs are on track, people are living with new hope to escape poverty. Millions more children are in school. Millions more people are receiving treatment for HIV and AIDS. And, millions of mosquito nets have been distributed, causing malaria infection rates to plummet.

But as we pass the half-way point in 2008, the pace of progress on the MDGs, has slowed and is uneven. While some countries move ahead, others have stumble or even gone backwards in their poverty reduction goals - Canada included!

If things continue as they are, none of the MDGs will be fully met by 2015.

Tell the Canadian government you want them, to meet their commitments to the MDGs, in your name. Governments will only deliver on their promise if they feel pressure from their citizens.

Hear from people around the world why they are saying; in my name!
