Thank you for your participation in Oxfam Trailwalker Canada which takes place from Friday, July 13th to Sunday, July 15th 2011 along the Ganaraska Hiking Trail in Ontario.
Teams of 4 will hike 100 kilometres in 48 hours in support of Oxfam Canada. Each team must start together, stick together and finish together. This is one of the toughest team challenges in the world, and we’re glad to have you along for the adventure!
The fundraising component of Oxfam Trailwalker Canada is simple; Each team of four must raise a minimum of $2,500 but we’re hoping you’ll aim for an even higher goal!
Some teams divide this amount up evenly amongst all four team members, setting a minimum goal of $625 per person, while some team captains take on more of a fundraising responsibility and commit to a higher personal minimum to take pressure off their teammates. Remember, it doesn’t matter how you divide it up, as long as your team reaches $2,500.
The deadline for reaching the minimum goal of $2,500 is July 8th, 2011. Failure to reach the minimum $2,500 by the deadline could restrict participation.
All proceeds go towards Oxfam Canada, an international development organization that works with women and men around the world, helping them with the tools and intangibles that empower them to become leaders. We work with them as they address the root causes of poverty in their own lives and in their communities.
In the same way that you need a training schedule, it really helps to plan your fundraising. Fundraising can be a challenge, but it can also be great fun - “FUN”draising! To make it easier, start your fundraising planning early and agree on a target that you would like to reach. As the weeks go by, you will spend more and more time training, and there will be many other things to organize just before the event – so start fundraising now!
This guide is designed to give you the inspiration and tools required to easily fundraise and collect donations.
