Adapting for a Green Economy: Companies, Communities and Climate Change
This publication aims to support the efforts leading up to Rio+20, as well as the activities, processes, commitments and partnerships that flow from it. By highlighting the nexus among climate change risks and opportunities, sustainable development and climate change adaptation, Adapting for a Green Economy provides useful guidance to business leaders and policymakers alike.
To date, government and civil society have led efforts to help communities in developing countries adapt to a changing climate. According to a new report by the UN’s Global Compact, Oxfam, the UN Environment Program and the World Resources Institute, the private sector must also play a crucial role. The report offers practical advice for companies on integrating adaptation and resilience into corporate culture and strategic business planning. It also explains how governments can catalyze private sector support for climate change adaptation and encourage climate-resilient business practices.
