Jessica Weatherhead, Manotick, Ontario

Jessica Weatherhead, Manotick, Ontario, is a female food hero because she is the manager of an organic vegetable farm which provides food boxes to 120 families.

Jessica grew up on a farm and made the choice to continue farming in the face of so many family farms closing down across Canada. Her farm, Roots and Shoots began in the spring of 2010 and will be entering into its 3rd season of producing fresh vegetables for the Ottawa area this summer.
