Oxfam Canada's Female Food Heroes

Dianne (Fireweed) Radmore, Denman Island, British Columbia

Dianne Radmore (Fireweed to friends) is a female food hero because of her energy & commitment to community. She brings us the Denman Island Community Vegan Potluck Series "100% plant-based fare, that all may share." She pairs potlucks with speakers or films linking environmental or social justice issues with healthy food choices. She's a founding member of SPUDS that provides islanders affordable access to land for growing both organic potatoes & community. She has introduced agricultural awareness to island children & founded Club Five, a 'humane education' support group for teens, including vegan & vegetarian youth often marginalized in rural communities. She founded DIVA (Denman Island Veganiculture Association) to raise awareness of stock-free & organic growing methods & production. Her devotion to humane & ethical food choices, environmentalism & community sustainability is an inspiration.
